Q: What is your five point agenda for developing the Coimbatore industry faster?

A: Roads, proper development of outskirts of city, availability of undisturbed industrial space for 25 yrs are some of the infrastructural aspect that would help.

Establishing common R&D centres like testing and tool room facilities.

Promoting institutions for imparting accelerated training to unskilled workers sector-wise

Implementation of world class manufacturing practices coupled with more cluster development programmes

Exposure to foreign dignitaries /visitors to Coimbatore

Finance at a lower rate of interest is must for small and medium industries.

For SMEs, Income Tax benefits are very low compared to large scale industries .

Pump and motor industries need incentive like TUF scheme for modernizing.

Government may identify industrial area in and around the city where residential area for labour can also be provided.

Ring roads to be formed around Coimbatore with adequate infrastructure facilities.
